Sand, Sea & Soul Explained
Spending time away from our normal routines and the (sometimes) mindless actions of everyday life, we can receive something special from just putting our bare feet in the sand. Even the microscopic ground up bits of rock, shell and glass can teach us a little bit about calmness and connection. Connected to this natural, inherent stability that is the earth, we also have the opportunity to wash ourselves of excess mental, emotional and energetic weight and debris that we carry, oftentimes unconsciously, in the unwavering waves of non-judgment and eternal churning that is the sea. In full receipt mode, as we're bathed in nature's perfect cure, we are empowered and gifted as much of her infinite life pulsation that we can absorb. And through this Self-transformative playing ground, it becomes evident that the real shepherd and chaperone of our lives was always there in patience and with outstretched arms, waiting until we feel safe or faith enough to release the reins and be the wise one within, the watcher, the learner, the Seer, that is the soul.
For our Sand, Sea & Soul yoga retreat, we will work in tandem with the grounding forces of the beautiful coastal earth, the cleansing forces of the powerful mother ocean, and the liberating, soothing forces of our own higher nature to create a unique arc of experience for each retreat participant. Morning yoga practices will be more vigorous with movement, breath, meditation. There will also be yoga philosophy teachings, guided breathing practices, guided relaxation (yoga nidrā) and sound meditation (crystal & Tibetan bowls and possibly a symphonic gong). Afternoon practices are workshop-style offerings to explore deeper dives into yoga practice and theory. These are optional, as some attendees will choose to spend the afternoons quietly in nature, adventuring off-site, or anything else desirable. Evening practices will be slower and gentler, including some calming vinyasa, yin yoga, more breathing, and meditation.
By the end of our retreat, we will have revived our connection to not only nature, but to ourselves. All the practices and philosophy are aimed at increasing peace, good energy, and clarity to see where our “true north” is pointing us so when we return home, we know where to direct our rekindled inner fire.
In addition to our rich schedule of yoga theory and practice, we’ll gather in the evenings around the fire pit for community, additional meditation & inner work, and some guitar and (possibly) singing! Nothing is forced and everything will feel just right.
